ABOUT
Irish-Canadian artist Gráinne Mangan —born in 2002 in co. Dublin, Ireland— immigrated to Canada at the age of ten. While she has explored various mediums, Gráinne works primarily in pencil, pen and ink; she utilizes intricate line work alongside limited water colour palettes to create in-depth, introspective, and a macabre tone into her work. Her love for myths and storytelling leads her to incorporate her Irish background into her visuals.
Before studying Illustration at the Ontario College of Art & Design University (2023 - 2026), Gráinne studied at McMaster University in the Arts & Science Program (2021 - 2022). Over the course of her art career, Gráinne has participated in various group exhibitions, and illustrated for multiple issues of a student-run magazine, The Melange. Gráinne was also involved in a student published children’s book, Too Little (2021-2022) dedicated and donated to Toronto’s Sick Kids foundation. Gráinne has also produced a large-scale, mixed-medium work for a silent auction, raising funds for the Joseph Brant Hospital's mental health wing.
